If you read White Apricot, then you know we are not fans of the chemically laden skin care, hair care, cosmetics and nail polishes that dominate the market. Thats why, six years ago, we set out to uncover all natural, vegan, and/or eco friendly alternatives to those products and introduce them to you. A lot has changed in six years. We used to have to do some pretty deep digging to find products that worked as well as their chemically dependent counterparts. Today, there are hundreds of products from which to choose. The problem is knowing WHICH ONE to choose. Thats where Green Grab Bag comes in!
Not too long ago, White Apricots Beauty Editor extraordinaire, Bonny Osterhage, realized that it must be overwhelming for our readers to figure out what to try from the myriad of products we write about. You basically have to take a leap of faith and shell out for potentially expensive full size versions of something youve never used before. We get to sample all the products before we take a plunge, but you dont. Bonnys epiphany was that we should take our beauty coverage to the next level and let you actually try samples of products we like, so you can TRY BEFORE YOU BUY – just like we do. She brought the idea to White Apricot founder, Carrie Pollare, and the Green Grab Bag subscription box was born.
What makes this even more fun is that every month is a surprise, delivered right to your door. We put some fantastic samples in our Green Grab Bags – from hair and skin care to makeup and fragrances. You never know what youll get, but we promise, it will be good! When you find something you like, visit Green Grab Bag's Special Offers page to get a great discount on the full sized versions, using a special code just for our readers. How cool is that?!
A green fashion and lifestyle expert, Carrie is the founder and Editor of WhiteApricot.com, a highly regarded online newsletter and website that has been covering eco and socially conscious fashion, beauty and lifestyle since 2007. A graduate of UCLA, Carrie began her career as a public relations executive, before deciding that she would rather be her own boss, and launching what would turn into a 20-year career as a marketing executive and entrepreneur. Her love of style and fashion led her to become a principal in a product development company, where she launched several products including high end handbags and jewelry collections that were carried at such retail powerhouses as Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Bloomingdales — just to name a few! Her social conscience and commitment to fashion converged recently when Carrie co-founded a philanthropic campaign to raise money for various charities through the sale of inexpensive, eco friendly bracelets. Half of the proceeds from sales went to organizations fighting world hunger, cancer, animal cruelty, diabetes, AIDS and many more issues, including hurricane and earthquake relief. When she is not busy planning her next philanthropic or entrepreneurial adventure, Carrie can be found enjoying life, surrounding herself with her husband, children, friends and dog.
With a passion for fashion and a degree in journalism from Stephens College, Bonny began her career more than 10 years ago, as the fashion editor for a San Antonio magazine, before moving on to become the special features editor for a San Antonio newspaper. Today, this mom of two balances her husband and children with her journalism career, working as a freelance writer for various Texas magazines and serving as the content writer and beauty editor for White Apricot. As the only female in her household, this self-proclaimed "product junkie" is able to indulge her love of all things "girlie" through testing and "playing" with the hundreds of eco products that make their way across her desk. No bubble bath is too warm, no body cream too luxurious, no lip gloss too shiny. Hey, its a tough job, but someones got to do it!
